The Story

For the first time, Sean Felton tells the full story of how he won his son Jobe back. Having pleaded with the Thai authorities, the Commonwealth Office, the British Embassy and even his local MP, Sean saw that they were powerless to act. Prior to Jobe's abduction, Sean had been blissfully unaware of how limited his own rights as a father were, and that now he was faced with an international child abduction rescue, he would be denied any meaningful support.

Scared of the Dark tells how Kim demanded money in exchange for Jobe's return, and how Sean endured heart-breaking phone calls with her during which he couldhear Jobe crying in the background. Sean explains why he hired a private investigator and a team of lawyers to fight for full custody and how, at his wits end, he finally turned to Facebook and struck upon a daring plan to uncover Jobe, setting up a fake online profile in order to lure Kim into contacting him. Masquerading as a rich American playboy, Sean's friend request was accepted by Kim, giving him his only, invaluable lead. Sean then carefully pieced together his ex-wife's online contacts, begging them for help and information.

After a tireless search, Sean tracked Kim and Jobe down to a small village and flew out to Thailand to meet her, using his Facebook persona. Sean reveals for the first time how he was forced to pay a bribe to the Thai police in order to secure their cooperation, and how, at his lowest point, he feared that Jobe had been sold into the sex trade by his mother.
